Our thinking: “I’m always worried.” #God promises: “Cast all your cares on me.” #Christ #Cancer

Every human on this planet faces trouble, trials, and tribulations.  Every human, no matter how rich or how poor.  No one is exempt because everyone is terminally ill.  Everyone will die and death is the greatest source of worry there is.  We have a great ability to think we live forever, especially when all is well.  That sort of thinking is a good thing because if we were constantly aware of how fragile life is we’d be a nervous wreck.

It’s only when we face a cancer diagnosis or some other life threatening event that the worry of dying comes barging in.  But there are other worries besides dying.  Ask anyone who has kids.  There’s a multitude of things to worry about when it comes to them.  From health to school to sports to social activities to leading them toward Christ, parents care for their children because they love them and they love them because of the time and attention they’ve given to them.

So it is with our father, our Abba (Daddy), who is in heaven.  And yet while he is in heaven, he is not far from any of us. Acts 17:27.

God is our spiritual Dad and created all of us. The Devil does not have the power to create anything, he only perverts and destroys.  All of us has had a parent, grandparent, or guardian who cared for us as an individual.  Ultimately, God cares more about an individual than any mortal.  And God cares more about your soul than anything.  More than any country or nation or people group because reaching all the nations and people groups is a major way God reaches each person’s soul.

As individuals we can cast all of our worries and cares upon God.  He will listen when we ask in Christ’s name.  When we ask Christ to be our Lord and Savior we also receive the Holy Spirit who also asks God to help us.  So there are three righteous voices petitioning God to answer our prayers: Christ at his right hand who can show the scars that covers our sins, the Holy Spirit in the individual who groans for us, and the individual who is the child of God.

As a father myself, I want to make my kids happy but I don’t give them everything they ask for because everything they ask for is not always good for them.  God is the perfect Dad and yet we see evil in this world.  The evil is because God made man perfectly free as he also made the angels.  Being perfectly free means freedom to make choices.  So life on this earth is not perfect, yet God works all things for the good for those who love him and are called according to his purpose. Romans 8:28.  The Bible shows example after example of how God takes care of those who humble themselves.

1 Peter 5: 6-7
6 Humble yourselves, therefore, under God’s mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time. 7 Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.

My wife and I are so thankful to everyone for their prayers and support.  Next week, she begins five months of chemotherapy and we’ll find out the results of our son’s bone scans.  He will also have surgery to remove the margins around his tumor.  So, we are going to cast our worries upon the Lord because he cares for us.  Thanks and may Christ be with you.
